How We Met

Premika and Kendall met through MakerGirl, a nonprofit startup. We formed a close professional and personal relationship over the summer, when we travelled across the country teaching young girls about 3D printing for MakerGirl Goes Mobile. We spent the entire summer together, making joint decisions about everything- from how to best run sessions and maintain our 3D printers, to what to eat for dinner and when to stop for gas.

Although we were not very close prior to the trip, we successfully worked through many obstacles together, from hitching a trailer, to fighting off homesickness, to keeping each other awake through 13 hour drives.

Through our joint experience, we realized that we could truly make an impact as college students. During our many hours spent traveling through cornfields and deserts, we realized that we were ready to start a company of our own that tackled a new issue which we both felt passionately about.

After traveling to so many unfamiliar areas, we were inspired to create a technology that increases safety. As women traveling alone, we often felt unsafe and having technology that provided real time information about the locations we travelled to would have made us feel significantly more secure.
